چکیده

An inventory scheduling model with forbidden time intervals is analyzed The objective is to minimize the long term average cost per time unit Unlike most of the literature on inventory theory no restrictive assumptions are made apriori about the nature of optimal solutions It is rather proved that optimal policies exist and that some of them are cyclic with cycles of a particular structure It is then shown that such optimal polices can be computed and an algorithm is given

Two-warehouse system for non-instantaneous deterioration products with promotional effort and inflation over a finite time horizon

In the current global market, organizations use many promotional tools to increase their sales. One such tool is sales teams’ initiatives or promotional policies, i.e., free gifts, discounts, packaging, etc. This phenomenon motivates the retailer/or buyer to order a large inventory lot so as to take full benefit of promotional policies. In view of this the present paper considers a two-warehous...

A note on periodic review inventory models with stochastic supplier’s visit intervals and fixed ordering cost

Most periodic review models in the inventory literature have assumed a fixed length of the review periods. In this note, we extend the work of Chiang (2008) , and consider backlogged and lost-sales periodic review models where the review periods are of a variable length and there is a fixed cost of ordering for replenishment. Assuming that period lengths are independently and identically distri...

Optimal pricing and replenishment policies for instantaneous deteriorating items with backlogging and trade credit under inflation

In this paper we develop an economic order quantity model to investigate the optimal replenishment policies for instantaneous deteriorating items under inflation and trade credit. Demand rate is a linear function of selling price and decreases negative exponentially with time over a finite planning horizon. Shortages are allowed and partially backlogged. Under these conditions, we model the ret...

On the Convergence of Optimal Actions for Markov Decision Processes and the Optimality of (s, S) Inventory Policies

This paper studies convergence properties of optimal values and actions for discounted and averagecost Markov Decision Processes (MDPs) with weakly continuous transition probabilities and applies these properties to the stochastic periodic-review inventory control problem with backorders, positive setup costs, and convex holding/backordering costs. The following results are established for MDPs...

Inventory Models with Markovian Demands and Cost Functions of Polynomial Growth

This paper studies stochastic inventory problems with unbounded Markovian demands, ordering costs that are lower semicontinuous, and inventory/backlog (or surplus) costs that are lower semicontinuous with polynomial growth. Finite horizon problems, stationary and nonstationary discounted cost in nite horizon problems, and stationary long-run average cost problems are addressed. Existence of opt...
